PROFESSIONAL FOCUS

Nirushan Guruparan is a graduate from Queen’s University’s Physiotherapy program. His prior education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Biology from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from York University. Having worked as a physiotherapist in British Columbia and Ontario, Nirushan has worked with various clients including individuals with orthopaedic injuries, motor vehicle accidents, work injuries, athletic injuries, and post-operative (knees, hips, shoulders). His treatment style is a combination of manual therapy and exercise prescription, with an emphasis in functional and athletic training/recovery. He has training and experience using joint mobilization techniques, Mackenzie techniques, taping, active tissue release, and dry needling. Additionally, he has completed his Certificate in Basic Bobath courses which has given him the tools to help individuals with neurological conditions such stroke, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and more.

MORE ABOUT NIRUSHAN

Outside of clinic, Nirushan was in the Executive Committee for the Global health Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, where he worked provide education and support for underserved communities nationally and globally. In his free time, Nirushan enjoys spending time with his family and friends, watching new TV shows, going to concerts, hiking, lifting weights, keeping up with basketball, soccer, and tennis news, and learning about fitness, nutrition, diet, and new exercises.
